Senior Lecture in Inclusive Education

I aim to create a learning environment where children and young people of all abilities feel respected, safe, included and can participate in meaningful ways. My teaching and research are in the area of Inclusive Education and culturally and linguistically diverse communities’ (CALD) with a focus on diagnosed disabilities amongst these communities.

People from CALD backgrounds are at a higher risk of social isolation due to language barriers, having fewer contacts within the community and living far away from their family. I am proud to be a part of RRIC to provide support and resources, create a sense of belongingness and foster social inclusion amongst people from different socio-economic backgrounds, different race, religions, sexual orientations and ethnicities. In my role as an Inclusive Educator, I constantly strive to create a community that is open to differences among people, cultures and perspectives."

Happy Me, Happy Family:

Empowering Self-Care for a Blissful Life, Free from Domestic Violence" In the whirlwind of life, women often find themselves as the nurturing heart and soul of their families, tirelessly tending to everyone's needs. It is a noble role, but it is crucial to remember that to care for others effectively, we must first care for ourselves. In this heartfelt blog post, we will delve into the profound significance of self-care routines and how they hold the power to not only enrich our lives but also illuminate our family's path to happiness, even in the face of domestic violence. We will also bridge these principles with the empowerment and unwavering support offered by our Rise and Radiate coaching for women, committed to fostering confidence, conquering self-doubt and anxiety, and bringing to fruition the dreams we will rightfully deserve. **Empowering Self-Care: A Path to Happiness and Healing** Let's face it: life can be tough, and for many women, it becomes even tougher when domestic violence enters the picture. But no matter the challenges we face, one thing remains constant: our well-being is the cornerstone of everything we hold dear, especially our families. **Prioritizing Our Well-being**: Imagine yourself as the wellspring of boundless happiness and positivity, even in situations marred by domestic violence. By placing self-care at the forefront, you'll replenish your cup with resilience and vitality, a gift that ripples through your family. The coaching at Rise and Radiate ardently underscores the value of self-worth, crucial in breaking free from the cycle of abuse and crafting an environment that's harmonious and uplifting.

Domestic violence is a serious social problem that affects both women and men, especially in multicultural communities. Domestic violence involves abusive and violent behaviour towards a partner, former partner or family member, and it can have physical, sexual, emotional and economic impacts. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 41% of Australians have experienced violence (physical and/or sexual) since the age of 15. Domestic violence is also a leading cause of homelessness, with 39% of people seeking help from specialist homelessness services in 2021-22 having experienced domestic and family violence.

To address this issue, it is important to help people break the cycle of isolation and provide avenues to engage with local community. Isolation can increase the risk and severity of domestic violence, as it can prevent victims from seeking help and support, and enable perpetrators to exert more control and coercion. Engaging with local community can help victims to access information, resources and services that can assist them in achieving safety and recovery. It can also help perpetrators to change their behaviours and attitudes through education and intervention programs.

I am proud to be working with an organisation like RRIC that is addressing these imperatives by providing support and resources for families facing challenging times, and helping create a safer and more respectful society for everyone."
